08 FLHRC, when I bought the bike I had them put the HD foglights on the front front engine bars; and they wired them to the left toggle switch on the nacelle. I purchased MOTO lights, removed the front engine bar, and this is what I found. Four wires coming from the left toggle, one side is hot... two go to the lights two stay in the connector. A seperate two wire connector with one side hot. I cut the white four wire connector and was left with two wires that went to the toggle. I connected them to the two wires they were connected to through the switch. I did not do anything to with the separate two wire connector with one side hot.
According to MOTO I plug in to the Deutsche plug under the battery. I did so (after wiring the MOTO harness to the battery + and -) and no lights? MOTO Tech was incredibly nice and wonderful to talk to, but it seems the problem is in the toggle switch, No issue with MOTO at all, I am unebelievabley impressed with their customer service; but now what do I do? I was at the dealer tonight and we tried to trace the left toggle switch but were unable to figure it out. Anyone have any clue. Sorry for the ramble but this has me completely perplexed????
Man, I'm sorry I can't tell you just where to look for what, but I scanned through the wiring diagrams in my 07 shop manual and it's all there. It tells you what/where it interconnects with and everything. I wonder why the dealer you were at could not trace those wires for you and determine what, if anything, was wrong.
It will be much easier to help if you can provide the wire colors in the four way connector and the two-way connector. If the wire colors are different in the male and female sides of the connectors, provide that as well.
Go to the dealer and have them print the instructions for the fog lights. The circuit is (should be) wired such that if you have the fog lights on the high beams will be off (can not be turned on). Should be easy when you have the instructions.
I recently read somewhere that a guy found his accessory wiring deutch connector was wired incorrectly (the wrong wires in the wrong holes). Might be something to look at.
Have the dealer use the HD Service Manual or Electrical Diagnostic Manual wiring diagrams to show what is supposed to be there, and compare what is actually on your bike.
If they used the acc switch for the fog lamps, they changed what was there originally, and should help you/them figure out what needs to be changed for the Motolights.
Okay gentlemen here is the update: Found the problem, the dealer helped me trace the wires... really fine fellow who happened to be the owner! At any rate went home and got it wired so all is well, except... there is power there but the radio does not work... I hear the cd cycle; no radio no info on the screen to show anything. I guess the radio has to go back...
