Just finished installing the detachable king tourpak on my 09 SG. I couldn't be happier, I also threw in the riders backrest for me. Wow I never want to ride without it Here are some pics , still awaiting the keyed tourpak lock (backordered).I also added streamliner fold-up passenger footboards and converted the foot pegs into highway pegs. My wife extremely enjoyed the ride and felt real secure wrapped in the tourpak. I took everyones advice and made the first trip short and safe and She is already asking when we can go again
Very nice. I just put George Anderson's TourPac relocation kit on my detachable unit, and my wife is in 7th heaven. Now when I ride with my backrest she doesn't feel nearly as cramped. You've got a nice setup there. Well done.
I just picked up an 09 SG last night and ordered the TourPak! My wife gathered all the parts from the parts counter while I finished paperwork on the bike and when I got home I had a couple parts that I have no idea what they are for! They are small parts in plastic bags and one piece is almost identical to a piece found in the hardware kit for the detachable rack mount. Looks like a puzzle to me right now. Hopefully things will make sense once I actually have the TourPak in my hands.
The Tour-Pak is deffinatley a must have for a touring bike. Especially if you're riding two-up. Comfy and secure for the Wife, and lots of space for packing. When I ordered my E-Glide, my wife said: "You go ahead and get anything you want on the bike, so long as it includes the Tour-Pak." OK Honey, anything you say.
My only advice to you would be this......take a good look at the new HD Street Glide Sundowner Touring Seat. My girl was complaining about the seat that came on the Street Glide. Saying it wasn't even close to wide enough, and it was also a bit too thin for her liking. On recommendation from many forum members I bought a Sundowner Touring Seat. She said it is not just more comfortable.......it is much much more comfortable. Now she is haunting me to take her out for longer and longer rides. I been riding with the same woman on the back of my bikes since 1980, and I fully trust her judgment, and I believed her when she said she was dissatisfied with the stock SG seat.
Just take it from me, and try the new Sundowner for the SG's.....you and your wife will not be sorry.
