Default Engine Mount Replacement

My 2006 RK Classic now has accumilated 34,000 miles and the front engine mount has finally given up.

Any inputs on the change out? I plan to go with a HD replacement unless there is one out there which can beat my stock mount for longevity.

The job looks fairly straight-forward, however are there any "tricks" I should know about?

Thanks
Edmo

Default Motor Mount

I just had the dealer put the 79d on my 06 RK Custom. It feels like the engine is going to jump out of the frame when I come to a stop. I've read some threads that say it needs to be broke in. I have about 500 miles on it and I still feel and see the engine at idle thrash about like its having a seizure. My buddy who rides with me even noticed it the other day and ask me if my bike was ok. I'm going to give it some more miles and reconsider.

Edmo take my advice and go a different route than the 79d, I've got one in the basement collecting dust with about 400 miles or so on it, thats why the newer models shake so bad, I would go with the one that called velvaride, there suppose to be pretty good, or another option is to find a salvage yard and buy up some used ones, thats what I am thinking about.

the easiest way to replace it is to remove the top plate then remove the mount. remember to jack the motor slightly to remove the weight from it. watch the factory bolts pretty crappy. when retorquing mine the the threads pulled rite out of the bolts! i replaced all the hardware with grade 8 without issues. watch to insure the mount is put in rite side up. easy to reverse

Thanks for all of the quick replies...

I've checked all of the Indies around here for alternates to the HD mount and everyone gives me the "I can get it on order for you" routine. I can get it on order myself, but I need the bike back up today.

The girl at the local HD shop said the one they have is the 79D. It looks like I'm stuck with it unless I wait a few days for the order to come in. My scoot has always wiggled, especially so at idle. No big deal...

Tn.Heritage, what are you running in place of the dusty 79D banished to your basement??
