Anyone within riding distance of Rocky Mountain national park, Estes Park, and/or the Peak to Peak highway south and east of Estes Park do yourself a favor and take the time to ride the area in the next week or so. I've been riding highway 34 up from Loveland to Estes Park (Big Thompson Canyon) and the Peak to Peak highway (highway 7 and 72) out of Estes for at least 12 years now and I've never seen the fall colors as beautiful as they were last weekend.
The wife and I rode down from Cheyenne and made the loop on Saturday....the gold colors were so bright it looked like they must have electric lights in the trees. Everyone was in the mountains that day...met a Vette club, antique sports car club, looked like a Mazda MX-5 club, many many bikers and lots of grannies and gramps checking out the beautiful fall day. Its the most beautiful ride I've had in a long time.
Unfortunately we didn't have a camera along (wouldn't you know it)....so I didn't get any pics.
