The majority of want/buy/best threads that I've seen seem to concern the EG, SG, or to a lesser extent the RG.
I just got back from a trip to Florida and saw that huge dealer in Daytona. What I saw there mirrors what I see at the local dealers here in NC. Lots of EGs, SGs (especially in Florida), and bunches of RGs. However, the one thing that is either not in stock or there might be one or two (maybe), is the Road King Classic. In Daytona there were 14 SGs, equivalent number (combined) of all models of the EG, and two (2!) RKCs. And I have yet to see and RKC in stock that has ABS.
My question is why? Are the RKCs more popular and sell out quickly (seems likely) or less of them ordered by the dealer because they have less profit (less likely since lots of Dynas, Sportsters, etc).
Not a "my bike is better than yours" thread, just wondering what y'all think causes this or even if is is strictly a Southern phenomenon. I ride my Son's RKC while he's in Iraq but have ordered an 09 with all the options in turquoise/antique white. I still don't know what it looks like in person but I'm going for it anyhow.
I believe the RKC is in demand.... I went to the dealer today and they had a pewter RKC, absolutely gorgeous, actually talked to the sales guy......
it'll cost retail PLUS $1700.00 for "shippig & handling" and "delivery".. what a RIPOFF!
But stupid me, I'm gonna take my Softail DELUXE by one day this week to see if I can work a deal..........there's also no softail DELUXES in the showrooms around town, one guy sez they can't keep 'em in stock and can't order enough of 'em from the factory.
just traded in my 05 rkc loved the bike and hated to see it go. but guess what.the fairing ,radio, color and abs was hard to resist.the classics in my book are still on of the best riding and most versitile bikes harley makes .
My ONLY objection to buying an SG OR RG (they ARE my favorites) is that here in South Florida I'm assuming it would get really warm BEHIND that faring, right ?!?
That's the reason I STILL have the ROAD KING on my list as a possibility..... "quick release" wimpshield like on my DELUXE !

I was wondering the same thing except that is one GIANT dealer in Daytona and he didn't get that big by not knowing his market. Which is why I'm asking in the first place. There were at least 8 RG's sitting on the floor. Not counting the new 09's. Similar numbers of 08 EG's & most of the SG's appeared to be 09's. One '08 RKC w/o ABS and 2 09's w/o ABS. I was hoping to see a turquoise/white RKC...Hah! Also seemed that most of the bikes were dark colors, few bright ones...perhaps they sold those quickly?

I'm in Bakersfield, CA (110+ in summer) and went from a RK to a RG. I believe the wind protection keeps you cooler with the RG. The new pipes on the '09s are supposed to keep the heat off, as well. I have enough air to be cooled by it, without the wind burn. I don't have lowers, so I can easily direct air with my legs.
The fairing sits a ways out on the RG. An Ultra with lowers would be much hotter.
