There is probably a better place for this, but since the touring section gets a lot of viewers - - -
I've got 1650 miles on my Ultra. Planning a ~800 mile trip next weekend. Thats 2450 miles. That only leaves me 50 miles for the 2500 service. I've got 8 days to spread out that 50 miles. Riding to work alone will do this and more (and I gotta have pleasure ridin'!).
So my question - as far as warranty, is it OK to run over a few hundred miles over the 2500 mile mark or should I short change it by a couple hundred and get it before my trip?
I know its not what you want to hear....but why dont you do it yourself? Just keep good records and all receipts and your warranty will remain in force.
If there is any doubt and you dont wat to do it yourself.....take it in early, and then you know your covered.
Heh, when I bought my '07 the dealership gave me a card good for an oil change and the service manager told me to be sure to save it for my 2500 mile service (which of course, there is no 2500 mile service according to the manual).
Scheduled service intervals seem to change according to model and year. Extra service certainly won't hurt anything, but I go by the manual.
+1..........just follow the owners manual. Since Harley is putting a 2 year, unlimited mileage, warranty on the bike, I would (and have) followed their program with zero disappointments. And no wasted money.
I agree, save your $300.00 and do it yourself if you are able. Save your receipts as they could come in handy if you have a problem someday.
These are easy bike to do routine maintenance on.
In answer to the original question, I believe that you will find that your next service is due at 5,000 not 2,500 and if you go a few hundred miles over it will be OK. I have done every service on my 07 Ultra including the "1000" mile 1st service. I have had some warranty repairs and it has never been an issue. BTW, The bike was 4 days old and had 1700 miles on it when I did the "1000" mile service. I follow the schedule in the owners manual. It now has 23,000 miles on it and purrs like a contented cat.
