I agree there is no 2,500 mile service.
I'm assuming that you will let someone else, besides yourself, do the required service, on your bike, when it is actually due. If you had the same question, but it was due for the 5,000 or any other periodic service, my advice, for what it is worth, is always wait until you come back from a trip. Never have your bike serviced before a trip, unless it is way before you are leaving.
A large percentage of vehicle breakdowns, can be directly traced to the last person that worked on that vehicle. When you have the service done after a trip, if something goes wrong, at least you are close to home. You can contact the shop that worked on it and have them come fix it.

Going over is not a problem. I did it several times on my 06 just cause I rode so much, and they couldn't get me an appointment for the service (had a service plan pre-paid for every 2500 miles) in 2 years and 38000 miles, no issues at all even though I know that 2 of the services were way off.

Thanks for all the replies, I checked my manual when I got home and the forum is right - 1,000, 5,000, 10,000. So the dealers are selling a practically worthless service @ 2,500.
I've always done my own service, but I've never had a new, "under warranty" bike before, always used. Plus, I know myself and would probably skimp on a few of the details so I got the 6 prepaid services. Saving a few bucks doing it that way, but not having to come off the hip each time a service is done was my real reason. Plus, according to the salesman, I can renew for 6 more services when those are used up at the same price, no matter how much they raise their shop rates, for as long as I own the bike.

No big deal to go over a few hundred miles, won't void the warranty. Its just important to do the service. If you like your paint, don't take it to my dealer. Do it yourself.
