Rico I think you gave me your helpful hints once before but I lost them. I am putting on my lock kits this weekend. Can you PM me or post here the extra instructions?
I have been looking over all of the RKs and talking to dealers about them as I am nearing my next bike purchase. From what I have found in talking to the dealers, the hardbags are the same size. Also, they have not reported any problems (leaks, sagging, etc.) for the customs bags. So I think a choice based on that would be simply a personal preference.
In the RK lineup, I am considering the standard simply because it has the cast wheels. Iâve ridden laced wheels for about 20 year with only one flat, so I donât think it happens all that often. But my current bike has cast wheels and so will my next. I would definitely agree thoughâŚlaced wheels look better.
The fedback is appreciated on the bag type, size, issue. From your input, it appears the heavier type (10 ounce?) leather stays in pretty good form on the Classic and Custom.
CharlieZ, great picture... that could be an advertisement for HD. What changes do you have and what seat and backrest?
My RK standard has a dealer installed cruise and I use it all the time. Works great and can be adjusted in very small increments. It also has a shutoff for either brake application or if you are holding the throttle so it can't move on it's own. Hard bags keep out moisture, dust etc. and you can really stuff 'em.[&:]
