Sorry you got the hard card pardner, if nothing else it might make others aware of their driving habits and save them the agony of your experience. Everyone has problems in life, some are just self imposed.

The police take an oath to uphold the law, and seems to me that's what they were doing. You weren't just going 17 MPH over the speed limit, you were going 50% faster than allowed. Sorry, if I were a cop, I'd had written you up as well.

if you are coming in from the east the speed limit drops before you see the town--years ago we were stopped coming into town and one of the passengers was the police cheif of another small (college place) town--got out of the ticket and learned from their conversation to never speed in those towns--dead on limit and they usually wave as we go by--sorry for ticket

If I got busted doing 17 over, the first thing I would say to my self would be "**** you dumb ***!" I have a horrendous driving record and now I keep my speed within the slower limits and usually with traffic in the middle or right lane on he highway. It use to take me 28 minuets to get home from work. Now that I have no points to spare it takes 30. Whats an extra 2 minutes.

I have a friend who was arrested for robbing a bank. Heck, it was a small bank and nobody got hurt. I tell ya, some LEOs just go way overboard with arresting people.

Fact is, in my experience most speed traps are easy catches usually in areas that have little to no correlation to "saving lives". On the other hand, taking even half of these resources and placing them on the roads to catch the a-holes not focused on the discipline of driving would really make a difference to road safety, not revenue.

Just doing your job? Fine. But don't BS us by making it sound that it's something that it's not.

If I stop a car in an area that maybe hasn't had a fatal accident (yet), then maybe 2 miles down the road they will be more cautious. The idea of stopping a car (and yes just stopping a car, not necessarily writing a ticket), is to identify the driver and hopefully make them become more aware of their driving behavior. Again every "poor sap" that I've written a ticket to, as been violating some sort of traffic code (speed, sign violations, etc.). Follow the rules, or stay 5-9 over, and typically you'll never have to get stopped. Break the rules, pay the fine.

4 or 5 mph over the limit, ya maybe a trigger happy cop. Sorry you got the ticket, sorry you got caught, but 17 mph the speed limit most anywhere is a ticket if you get caught. You sped, you got caught, you deserved the ticket. Good luck.

Pay the damn fine. Doesn't anyone take responsibility for what they do anymore?
