I like having the crash bars, but the saddlebag bars just don't do it for me. That's the first thing to go on my new Ultra. Oh yea, it'll be a 2010 model...

$913.00 plus tax. New front fender, new lower left saddlebag, catch for the left saddlebar, reflector for the catch, cap to the left handgrip and new engine guard. There was a scrape in the very bottom of the back of the front fender, the left side of the engine guard is scraped, the catch for the left saddlebag is scraped and the bottom edge (toward the rear) of the let saddlebag is scraped. Happended in my driveway Friday night. Bike was 2 days old and had 51 miles on it. I thought the kickstand was all the way down when I was getting off of it. Obviously, I was wrong. My 01 Road King had a much larger kickstand that swung right out. The scratches aren't bad, but the bike is too new to let it go. Should have the new parts on this week.

I know someone who dropped theirs in a asphalt parking lot, and it received no damage to the paint, a small scrap on the engine guard, but on the very bottom where you can't see it normally.

I have dropped my Eglide Classic ('95 model) at zero speed and never scratched either crash bar on either side. The bike will rest on the floorboards and not touch anything else. Haven't managed to drop my Streeter yet but with a buddies help I laid it over on both sides (in the garage) and the result was the same - no damage. This does'nt mean that your bike won't go over farther under different circumstances - just that if it does go over, say like at a stop where you lose your footing, you'll probably luck out with no damage.
I had the same experience, no damage. I watched the left side of the front fairing scrape against concrete as I fought to keep it up. I eventually gave up and let it rest. After I got help to pick it up, I whisked off the grit on the fairing side, to my surprise, no scratch. Saddlebags were untouched, most of the pressure was on the floorboard bottom.

Angry I happened to me yesterday!

Unfortunately I can tell you. I'm still not sure how it happened. Never droppped my '06 Street Glide before. The pavement at the intersection had a coat of oil and or grease apparently and my foot slipped right out from under me and down it went on the right side. Anyway, the latch took the majority of the scratches. I'll replace it. The bag had two very small scratches about the size of a pencil eraser. One on the side of the top and the other on the bottom rear corner. I think some touch up paint will fix that. But surprisingly my front brake lever broke off on the end and a very small scratch on the side of the fairing. Again, very small. Touch up should take care of it. Anyway hope this helps.

Default Happened the second day I had the bike...

At a stop light, on a uphill where the road also went down and away on the right side. With a 30" inseam, I was tip-toe on a flat surface. Siren turns on behind me on the right, I look, lose my balance and down she went on the right side.

Asphalt damaged the outside corner of the bag, a few small scratches on the bottom of the engine guard.

Upside? The right bag was damaged pre-delivery, so the dealer had commited to getting me a new one, so I had a "get out of jail free" card.

The following Monday, went to a local shop and had the seat lowered, sides shaved, and a gel pad put in. No more tippy toes.

Well lets just say that if you were to drop it on an angled surface while at a stop, you would maybe end up with scraps on the bottom/sides of the saddlebag, the engine guard, the saddlebag latch cover, scratch on highway peg hardware, and maybe a little scratch on the Rush slipons. Without replacing the engine guard, since it was minimal damage or the highway pegs, it would cost around $250 to replace the bottom of the bag, $45 for color matched latch cover, $5 for the DOT reflector on the bag. Don't ask how I would know this much information. I still wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. I just tell myself that there are "those that have and those that will." Although, that still doesn't make me feel any better.

Went down on left side while barely moving. Engine guard scratch size of quarter on bottom. Muffler has scrape along its length on bottom. Bag has scrape on the bottom edge. Didn't replace anything. Maybe this winter will do Bag and install slip-ons. I really don't care about engine guard...

I dropped my Road Glide in my driveway, which sits on a fairly sharp incline, earlier in the year. It was a comedy of errors, the first one being, I was hammered on Tequila. The second one was I was perpendicular to the driveway. I was trying to operate my garage door opener, which wasn't working properly for some reason. I stopped, had my right foot down, right hand on the brake, left hand pushing the button on the garage door opener. The bars turned right suddenly, causing the weight to shift. Over to the right I went. I'm a big dude (6'1" and 255) and have never had any problem picking a touring bike up. The incline of the driveway was working against me, though, and I made 4 or 5 attempts to pick the bike up. I'd get almost all the way up, then, "I ain't got it. I ain't got it." I'd ease it back down and it would scoot down the hill a little. End result, I ruined the right bag bottom, scratched the lid when I opened it up to get something out of it, scratched the engine guard pretty good and got a small place on the corner of the fairing. I was pretty disgusted with myself. If it weren't for a couple of Good Samaritan passersby, I would have never gotten it back up. I found a set of rear engine guards on eBay that were in excellent shape and put them on. I was going to get the paint fixed, but found a nice take off set in Vivid Black, so I just changed out the whole paint set. Lesson learned, no more Tequila when I am on the bike.
