I took a ride with my Street Glide from New Jersey to Vermont this weekend and got caught in some light rain on the way up. When things finnaly dried out I noticed that the inside of my speedometer and tachometer had water creeping down. It almost looked like "legs" when you swirl a glass of brandy. Now there are water stains on the inside of the glass. This can't be normal or is it? I thought these are "marine" rated gauges. I'd appreciate some feedback before I call the dealer on this. Thanks in advance.
I had the same thing happen to my RG the other week. Didn't affect the gauges operation.
As far as the dealer goes they will probably tell you that is normal. My 02 Ultra gas gauge used get condensation in it all the time...many people had the same issue. Of what did the dealer say....
This was a little worse than just fogging. I've spent some time around boats and I have never seen it on those gauges. At $20,000.00 + for our bikes, I don't expect to see it either.

Unfortunately, It is normal. They are not sealed gauges. They should be but there not. I replaced fuel gauge on 02. MADE IN MALAYSIA. Imagine that.
Just from experience and it might not be "NORMAL" but to me it is, to date the only gauge on previous and current bikes that haven't fogged is the volt gauge on my Ultra. No gauge failures just fog.
