'08 Wind Deflectors on '"07 Ultra
There's been alot written about the '08 Ultra wind deflectors (4 hole)fitting/not fitting the '07 and before 3 hole Electraglide fairings. Many people have indicated you can drill out the fairing and use the '08 deflectors on the '07 and before fairings. The attached picture shows the modification I made to make the '08 deflectors fit my '07 Ultra fairing. The white component (arrow) is made by screwing a 10-24 brass insert into a 1/4" I.D. nylon bushing. Cut the bushing at the correct angle, drill the fairing and install. Total cost for components (2 bushings/2 brass inserts) $1.76 at your local Ace Hardware. Just make sure you drill the fairing for the fourth hole in the right location the "first" time.
The only shortcoming of this design is everytime you install or remove the adjustable wind deflectors (not sure why you would) you have to remove the outer fairing. If you could glue the nylon bushing in place it would eliminate this problem.
Anyone know of an adhesive that would adhere to nylon and the inner fairing material?
Anyone know of an alternate bushing material (other than nylon) and an adhesive that would adhere to the inner fairing and alternate bushing material?
