Default Converting rear signals

I thought I read somewhere that the rear signals on a Road King could be converted to running/brake/signal using front signal housings on the rear. Of course, now I can't find the information. I want to convert the rears and use the Cadillac lenses. I know that the MOCO as well as many others make a conversion kit. Those kits don't do what I want. If you have any infromation or pics of the Cadillac lenses installed please post. Thanks.

I purchased a set of front singal light housings with the bulbs and a pig tail from Kuryakyn's ebay clearance store for less than $8 for the pair.. You can find a link to it through Kuryakyn's web site.

I swapped out the housings in the rear of my RK. Since a RK doesn't use a fender tip light, there is a terminal on the circuit board inside the brake light assembly on the fender that's open. I pulled the power for the running lights from there.

Like you, I wanted the Cadillac lenses but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money. So I settled for a compromise and installed a set from Motor City Cycles. I purchased them from J&P, they had them in stock.

Default conversion

I bought the conversion kit for my 05 RK custom from hd and it was a simple plug in under the seat that came with red lenses. The custom has bullet style tail lights. Since installing the kit, I have noticed that at idle with the brakes on the headlight dims a little and the horn honks like it's underwater. It's because when all three lights are on the current is greater.

HD has the complete conversion kit.

Make sure everything is grounded properly and have a fully charged and grounded battery or you may have low voltage issues at idle.

You should always check the leads going to and coming from the battery so they are tight and clean. But after the install if you have any questions about low voltage at idle, just bust out any DVOM and check the voltage at idle. Should be about 13.5 at the battery....no?

I'm almost certian that the lenses are plastic, but just can't tell from photo!

Are they? I would love to have them in glass!

They do look nice just the same. How do you like the color of the red? Not one of those pink tints to it?

Thanks for the feed back.
