I am at the end of my 2 years of warranty. I have the 110 kit, with SERT and Rinehart TD's. I had the dreaded 110 oil leak (base and head gaskets) at 5k miles. Fixed at 9k miles. I now have 14k on the bike. I am approaching the end of my season in NH. I have only had a couple of minor issues besides the engine: leaky master cylinder lid, speedometer has stains inside from moisture (again - I am on my 2nd speedo) and a primary case oil leak (minor but fixed).
I am curious how other 2007's and 2008's are doing. Should I get a warranty? I think it is around $1000 for 3 more years. I am not sure if it is worth it. Statistically, the odds are against me. HD plans to make money on my buying a warranty and not using it.
I was thinking the same thing myself. I've had no problems with my 2007. My 2 year warranty will end in January '09 but the thought had occured as a fellow rider's Dyna developed a whirring sound from his primary just days before his warranty ended.
Has HD offered anything to you after your factory warranty ended?
If anyone has been approached by HD to purchase an extented warranty please post up! I would like to know what they're offering.
You kinda mentioned this already, but it is pretty universally accepted that dealers (not just HD) are not going to offer a package that is going to cause them to lose money. If you look at the average of 100 riders, most will not use it, so the dealer makes an easy buck. The ones that had it and needed it are more than happy that they had it, but as you said, the odds are against you needing/useing it.
The SE 110" have issues, the main issue which you already had taken care of. In the current issue of AIM, in Donny Petersen's Techline article on oil coolers, he had sidebar blurb about the CVO 110" and it's problems. Personally, I would get the warranty after reading his blurb.
How many of you guys have used your auto insurance, you going to go without it?Just because you have not needed it to this point not very good argument.
used my ext warranty 3 times already. The XM radio died and then the whole radio died on my 2006 SG. The radio was 600.00 and the XM unit was almost 400. I also got them to replace the front motor mount under the ext warranty. Only cost the 50 deductable. I think it is worth the peace of mind.
