I am looking to get one of these Tenders to keep things charged up, I understand Harley has a Harness you can hook up and just plug the Tender into, does anyone have that part number and what tender will work with it?
The Battery Tender's come with the harness. It's a standard 12V plug with the negative side exposed and the positive protected.
Also, the one that Harley sells (at least around here) is a Battery Tender Jr, at a price greater than a full size Battery Tender Plus. Go to www.CompetitionAccessories.com web site. They have them on sale right now for $39.95, regular they are $59.95
Here's what I use and have used these for years with no problems. They come with alligator connectors and the hard wire connector. I believe I paid around $25 dollars online. I think they probably make the one for Harley because they look the same except for the sticker. Also, you have to buy the hard wire connector separately from Harley and, of course, it's way more.
Hope this helps.
The picture posted above is a Battery Tender Jr. Note it has 750 ma charge. The full size Battery Tender Plus has 1.25 Amp...nearly twice as powerfull. Harley's version is a Jr.
Battery Tenders are going to be even more important now since they changed up the way the security system on touring bikes works. They automatically engage and stay on in the garage as soon as you walk away from them. Unless some genius can figure out a way to install some gadget to keep it disengaged when ever you would like it to be.
