Shifting lever

Was riding into work the other morning and downshifting on my 04 Ultra the shift lever went down almost past the floorboard now there is about 1/4" play in the shift lever is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix? i tried to tighten the allen bolt but seems to be apoxie in. Don't want to take it to a repair shop if i don't have too.The ultra is 4 months new to me. Bought it with 14,000 miles on it. Spent the last 23 years on my 1974 Electra-Glide Which i still own and will be riding till this is fixed.

The fact that you say it seems like it may be epoxied in, makes me think the previous owner had a problem with it and may have stripped the shaft. I would take it apart and check the shaft out first.

Get a new shaft 33709-82A $17.21 and then grab a new lever, but they sell for $42.95 so I'd get one from somebody that removed their heel shifter as it is the same. Easy to swap out.
