Interesting this came up. Had a beautiful day Saturday, rode 450 miles throughout. One catch though. pulled up in a state park wheeled around to stop and back up, handle bars turned out and evidently off center when stopping, you know the rest of the story. Embarrassed, upset and down right mad. Even though we were stopped it seems like the crashing sound was deafening, wife rolls well though and yes she helped me pick it up.

Hi

I own a new 06 Street Glide, Its been out a few times, just love the bike. I have not dropped yet, but I have thinked about It.

My question is this, this is my first bagger as as you know the SG does not have the saddle crash bag bars, nice look but.... If and When you lay down your bagger where does it touch, obviously on the front crash bars but i wonder in the rear. Would It rock on the saddle bag If you do not have the rear bars?

I too put my bike down. (99 Ultra) The first day I bought it I got home and put my foot down and over she went. Man, you talk about a rush of strenght. I was butted up to it and up she came. After I got it up I looked around to see if anyone seen me. I haven't put it down since, but I am waiting cause I know it can happen at any time.

first bike I owned was when the wife and I was dating and I picked her up to go for a ride. Grass was wet and I was turning the bike around in the yard with her on and the back wheel went out from under us. Well, it landed on both of us . helmets don't save you when a woman is hitting you in the back of the head telling you to get this thing off me. Hard to pick up a bike when your under it.

To answer your question, when I dropped my Ultra, it hit on the bottom corner of the crash bar and the bottom corner of the saddle bag guard. The saddle bag guard appeared to protect the saddle bag from any damage.

The process of putting your butt in the seat, one hand on the crash bar and the other on the cars works like a charm, My wife took a riding course at the local hd dalership and a woman instructor did exaclty that, she had a few people help her set the bike on its side (an ultra classic) and she picked it up on her own, I saw it with my own eyes, its not as hard as you may think.
