Default Road Glide Front End

I am planning to install chrome front forks and lowering kit on my 08 Road Glide. I want to do this install myself and save a few bucks. Has anyone done this job? I know it involves removing the inner fairing, not sure if I have to do the outer as well. I have a tech manual and I have done this on my softail but I could use some helpful tips or tricks from those who have done it before. This install on the Road Glide looks like it will be a big PIA. Anyone?

The outer fairing is just 6 Torx screws, and the turn signal bolts. Pretty easy and quick. From there I'd see what kind of access you have to the fork clamps. I can't remember whether I could see the clamp bolts or not when I had the outer fairing off to install my Hogtunes speakers.

I'm trying to remember...
But I don't think the outter/inner fairing has to be removed from a RG to do fork work.
The tubes are located in the speedo housing (switch cap) and I believe that's accessible without removing the fairing.

Been several months since I've done a RG...but from what I remember, didn't have to remove these items.

Thanks for the response guys, I'm going to do this thing. The only tricky part I can see would be removing the ignition switch. Anythinbg to look out for there?

sorry I can't help, but here's a bump for you and I'll be following this thread... took me a year but I have finally accumulated the parts to do mine and will be tearing into my RG sometime after the weather turns colder.
