If I lived up north I would go for the ultra. Living down south we need all the air we can get moving past us. Thay's why I chose my second classic. Plus Ultras remind me of Shriners?
We bought our first HD at the end of June. We chose the Ultra, I've waited a long time for a Harley and it will have to last well into our bagger years
We've put about 6000 miles on it so far and love it. The lowers when closed are warm, the intercom is very helpful in traffic, the separate controls for the radio/cd is a must have when one of you is deafer than the other. Ride both then go buy the Ultra. Good luck Kris
If you want lowers and rear speakers, get the Ultra. Read some of the posts on here and you would think they are two different bikes.
Yeah I am seeing that too. Almost as if the general opinion, among Ultra owners anyway, is the Classic is a sub-par version of the Ultra. All it is is some rear speakers, fairing lowers, cb and tour pak lights. Nothing that drastic. Had several people on here tell me I would regret getting a Classic instead of an Ultra. Can't really see why.
And the comment if you ride 1-up get the Classic, if 2-up get the Ultra makes no sense to me.
I bought a Classic and added the Ultra parts that I wanted. I ended up with the bike I wanted. I don't like the black framed Tour-Pak lights on the Ultra, the metal tank badge, or the paint scheme on the Ultra front fairing. I now have everything else that makes it an Ultra.

I was in this same boat looking at both I decided Ultra because 80% of my riding is 2 up and the intercom is real nice for that and don't forget the cruise control!
Put a classic on order 2 weeks ago. If I toured 2 up most of the time, I would have gotten an Ultra. Around town, solo, I wanted a SG. Settled on a Classic with detach stuff. The truth is cars/boats/airplanes/bikes; a man needs a different one for each day of the week.
