Personally I don't like really loud pipes, I can't hear the engine and I like the soltitude of being on the bike. I do like hearing a rumble, though, so check into Bub7's TD with Crossover so there is not loss of compression.
To me, unless you let someone else ride your bike, you really don't know what it sounds like. When I ride behind someone, their bike always sounds great. Then I second guess my decision of what pipes I put on. That was until I let by brother ride my 05 Sporty with V&H Shortshots, I didn't realize just how loud they were and what a great sound they produce. So, until I follow someone riding my 08 RK, I'll hold on my opinion. Although, many have told me that my Bub 7's sound awesome! I like them because at idle or in the city, I can keep the neighbors happy. Get it out on the highway and it sounds pretty awesome...again, that's from the driver's seat though.
Trust me, pump up your motor and use the Bub7's. My RK got so loud nobody wants to ride behind me anymore. I even called Bub to get quite baffles for them and now I have to wait till next year. I hate wearing ear plugs to ride but I have too.
