Also, what do you think looks better, Chrome or Black? I'm inclined to get the black. easy to repaint, blends in with the frame, doesn't stick out like a sore thumb etc. (I realize its just the one part that gets chrome).
In fact the ground clearance has been reduced by 1/4 in. only. Not a reason not to get, I ride corners hard and drag sidestand and floorboard brackets but not centerstand.

The bike which I used to develop my 09 is the ultra pictured on my site. When I first began the project I noticed it was much harder to get the footboards to touch down on corners with the new frame. The outside corners of the feet on my stand did touch first with the old width carried over from the original EZ-Up for the pre-09 stands however. Long story short the new stand now has been reduced by 1-1/2 inches between the feet and the H frame (the part that swings down) goes up within 1/8inch of touching the frame. With these two changes made I cannot make the feet of the stand touch at all when cornering, even when turning into an upslope. The foot lever that is on the left side under the foot board will not touch even when the bike is down on the crash bars. As far as ground clearance: H-D made the extra lean angle possible by raising the height of the frame. I suspect they did this to give as much ground clearance to the exhaust crossover pipe as they could. The bow-tie brace from the old frame was replaced with a frame brace plate which is only .060 thick or about 1/16 inch and can be deflected with your thumb. In addition to the very thin plate they put the cross over pipe in the exact place where my old stand folded back into. When I first looked the new frame over I was pretty much convinced it was a no go for a center stand but then everyone kept asking me for one. The first thing required was to produce a mounting plate of my own as the brace plate provided by the MOCO just isnt sufficient to support much weight. So this required a new 3/16 inch plate and the hinge and H-frame takes another 1 inch so the new assembly is 1-3/16 lower than the frame rails. Since they raised the 09 by about an inch over the old models the net difference is just 3/16. Another addition I made for the new units are two skid plates which protect the hinge and springs when contact is made with speed bumps and after testing I can tell you they work to protect the workings of the new stand. This is where you will make contact not on cornering. The worst speed bumps around here are at a local lake/park and in order to make the 09 ultra and the tallest ones get acquainted I had to actually hit the end of one that was taller than the middle and with much more speed than I wanted to go over it with the new bike. On the third attempt at about 30MPH we had good solid contact, ouch!! The air was set at 22PSI in the shocks and I weigh 290 lbs. no comments needed here guys, Im just saying the bike was loaded ok? The skid plates work folks and there was no contact made anywhere else. On the lowered bikes like the Street Glides and the CVO Road Glides or any with the profile shocks the ground clearance at the center stand is reduced by 7/16 inch. So far I have had nobody mention clearance issues but this stand takes some clearance no doubt about it. This should answer your question about clearance. On the black versus chrome question: All of our stands are made with a chrome foot lever and the rest is epoxy powder coating in gloss black like the frame. We can make the all black on special order and this will add some time to the order. The chrome is not just for looks either, remember you are placing your foot on this and then as it goes down with pressure you are grinding your boot down on the thing. Chrome will take this and keep smiling and even the powder coated finish, as tough as it is, is still paint.

Im definitely gonna get one if this group buy goes through. But I gotta be honest with you, Im concerned about what its gonna look like when is up. A friend of mine saw your set up in Myrtle Beach and was telling me about it before you even came to this site. I really dont want it to be seen. If I get it, install it, and it looks alkward, someone is gonna get a good deal in the classifieds
Thanks for your detailed answer. Chrome works for me then and I am glad someone close to my "weight" has tested this out. (I'm right behind you there, pushing 270-275) and thankful I ride solo.
Can someone post a picture closer up from the side of the bike with stand up?
I myself will likely pull my passenger floorboards off and maybe the chrome will simply blend in with the other chrome.
