I went out to Walmart yesterday and found the lights. Then I check Kuryakin's site for the P clamps and was shocked at the price.
So I did a little more checking. JC Whitney has chrome P clamps in all sizes for $8.99 each (but watch out for excessive shipping charges from JC--that has happened to me in the past).
Good deal. I bought the 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" clamps by Kuryakyn on Ebay and got a great deal. I also changed the bolts because the ones that came with the clamps were soft. You won't believe how much light these babies put out.
The lights actually came with enough wire for the job. I just soldered it all together and shrink wrapped it to be safe.
I bought a 12V relay on ebay, actually a couple of them for odd jobs. When the lights are on, they pull power directly from the battery. The switch is wired to a switched circuit so they can't be turned on unless the ignition is on.
I guess you could run a hot wire to a switch and then to the lights. It would be a matter of time until you burn the switch though. I have the relay fused also.
Shrink, I just saw this post you started back in november, Im about to join your club and install a set, and your right, you just cant beat the price, You did a very clean installation on yours, GREAT LOOKIN BIKE... Thanks TIm
