I drilled 2 - 3/8" holes for the switches. They have a threaded center that take a "nut" on the inside of the fairing. There is nothing to see on the dash other than the switch itself.

This project took more time than money, but I done a good job, so I'm gonna pat myself on the back. Now, for the other 1000 times I screwed something up - we won't talk about that.

Thanks for all of the positive comments, I appreciate it.

I have a set of Saeng NiteCutters retangular lights that I had mounted down low on my last road bike, an '84 Venture. I found them invaluable for driving in the rain, as they had a patented swivel mount and were instantly adjustable. Caught in the rain, I could point the right one down to the white line on the edge of the road. They have since changed their design to a round light, but their price is in the hundreds of dollars.....In fact, they charge more for the bulbs than you paid for the lights !

I LIKE it! This goes onto my winter mod list. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looks like this setup does not interfere with the lowers, right? Thanks for an excellent idea.

You guys are right - these lights do not interfere with the lowers at all. It would be hard to show in a picture, but these lights have two wires coming from them. I soldered an eyelet onto one of the wires for ground and put it on one of the mounting bolts, so it's short. For the power wire I pushed it through the "hole" (in the lowers) that the engine guard goes through, then zip tied it to the engine guard, ran it up the down tubes and into the wire harness loop. From there it goes under the tank to the relay which is under the seat. The lowers will be able to be removed without disturbing the lights.

These particular lights are driving lights, not fog lights, so they shoot alot of light.

I was at Wallworld tonight and they have quite a selection of driving and fog lights that would work for us. The most expensive pair was $23.00. They have some that have black housings for those of you that prefer the blacked out theme too.

One more thing, I installed mine so they were "inside" the engine guards, just in case I drop the bike. Yes, I'm a member of the club.
