Question about installing shocks...
Im looking to install a set of the Arnott air shocks on my 07 ultra classic. First time for me doing this; can I get the old shocks off with a normal ratchet and put the new shocks back on with it, using a torque wrench as well, or do I need an impact-type air wrench?
Also, any other tips would be appreciated!
Thanks!
John

Put this system on my bike..r&r one shock at a time will make your life much simpler.Take your time ,install is easy...and youll like the system.O yeah make sure compressor brkt slides into vents on bottom of battery tray.
Thanks for the tips Heathen...sounds like you are pretty happy with the Arnott system?
Did you install the air guage as well? Are you happy with the ride quality?
Thanks again!

I too installed this system on my rk and hand tools are fine as well as a lift mounted under the frame away from the swing arm. do one shock at a time and when you get to the install of the compressor unred the battery the carbon canister slides out toward you but you will ave to disassemble the battery box a little to get the clearance. not that big of a problem. as for the hoses from the gas tank to the carbon canister keep as much length as possible and clamp them to the frame as far below the bike as possible. when installing the hoses make sure that when you cut the hoses use a razor blade and cut a straight as you can and dont flatten out the end of the newly cut hose cause when you place the grommet over the end they can break very easily . not a hard install I did mine in about two hours total and I installed arnotts gauge as well. Beautiful system plug and play. Oh if you have the ardel setup the settings ard from all the way to the counter clockwise setting you only need one to two clicks at the most. good luck and have fun. I love mine

Do not use air tools!
I just removed a pair from a customers bike. It seamed that the shocks were some of the first made and there was no spacers installed between the shocks and the bike. On his way to Sturgis something rubbed through the air bladder and the shocks deflated on the road. He doubled over the line to the bad shocks, kinked it, and applied 2 tie wraps to secure it. Arnott was visited by my customer where they investigated the problem, installed 2 spacers/side than installed brand new shocks.
My customer changed to my shocks (Penske) and I was to install them. Arnott installed 3 bolts corectly but ran the 4th under air and cross threaded it. They used SS button head. My customer was made aware of the problem and we tried everything to get it out. Finally broke the head off it than welded nuts on the end twice. We gave up and than went to drilling it out. It took me 2 days to drill out the bolt using carbide tiped drills and we did it in steps.
In the end I did not wish to take a chance tapping the 1/2" X 13 hole so I drilled it out and used a Key Locking Insert.
The hardly used Arnott system is for sale. Just call & I'll give you a contact person.
