It depends on which ones you get.

Ohlins Shocks for the thigh chalanged are no problems. When I build the shock for the customer I take in consideration the riders sag. The part that people do not take into consideration is that there is two types of bumps in the world, the ones that go up (compression) & the ones that go down (rebound). When I first designed and set up real performance shocks for HD's, rebound plays a very important in comfort. In place of you and your bike going down into the depression, just the swingarm/wheel does. This means you get a much more comfortable ride than say your air shocks and the cheap aftermarket shocks that do not have the power to support the bike without using the springs as part of the suspension.

When you sit on the bike I make a portion of the shocks travel (stroke) so the bike sits lower when you are on the bike unlike your air shocks. This was one of my first customers (below) who purchased these shocks and helped greatly along with other friends test and help with trying different valve setting banks to get it right.

So the answer is yes, I am the person responsible for developing these shocks (as with many others) for Ohlins. They must be valved for each person as no Ohlins shocks can come out of the box to work for every customer who can weigh in at 150#~400#.

My son and I are both running Ohlin shocks built by Howard (3-3's). I have a 30" inseam and riding a 2009 Ultra, and my son has a 28" inseam riding a 2011 Ultra and both have no problem flat footing our bikes. Howard will consider your inseam when building them. Hope this answers your question.

I don't have the short inseam issue, but I can tell you that I had Howard build me a pair of Ohlin's for my SG, and WITHOUT A DOUBT, it is the single greatest thing I did to my bike. I love the feeling of doing a 700 mile day, and still want to ride more. Like Howard basically said above... you get what you pay for, and Ohlin's + Howard is an unbeatable combo.

I also have a set of Ohlins from Howard, well worth every penny. And Howard knows his shiz. One of the best things I have added to my scoot, if not the best....

I think you may have gone to the wrong site as most of what I do is suspension. Go Here and look on the tabs for the "Chapter" in the book on the subject you need information from.

My site is built like a tree. http://www.motorcyclemetal.com/ is the trunk, the tabs are the heavy branches, and the smaller branches are specific subjects with links to an even more specializes subject.

You are a HDF member so call me on pricing. Non HDF people already have their pricing which is classified as MSRP. Thank You.

I ordered a set of JRI shocks from Howard on 6/7 and received them on 6/10 and installed them and all that i've got to say about them is that they are awesome and that you can't go wrong with Howard doing your shocks.
