Replace IDS/Sprocket bolts...
if you remove them for any reason. I was due for a rear tire change out at 13k miles. Removed rear wheel, saw that IDS sprocket had about a 1/4inch of play in it. upon further inspection, the 5 bolts had backed out enough to allow for this amount of play. So i removed the bolts, they had no noticeable damage to them. the inner hub of the ids was not rounded out like i thought it would be. So i get the tire swapped out. Go to install the ids. Cleaned the hub threads and cleaned off the old bolts. Go to tighten them down with the prescribed pattern and torque. Then SNAP one of the old bolts snapped off in the Hub. Damn! so i tapped it out, cleaned the threads up and put in five new bolts and torqued to specs. no problems. the cost was about 11bucks for the new bolts and a few hours wasted for not replacing them the first time. lesson learned: if you remove your bolts or suspect damage to them, replace em. i am glad i snapped the bolt in my garage where i had the right tools to fix it and not have it happen doing 70 down the highway.
