Default **new guy stupid question time**

I just got a tour pak off ebay....brand new....nice price!!!!

anyway, my question is this:

Do the nuts and bolts that is needed to mount the tourpak to a rack (perminant or quick release) come with the tour pak or with the rack?

Is there anything special that is needed other then just a set of nuts and bolts or are there rubber washers?

the reason why I ask is because I found a new take off stock rack to mount it to but THAT doesn't come with hardware. I guess, for the price I'll sacrifice no quick release.

Thanks

Seems odd that you didn't get the bolts and shims or spacers that connect the tour pak. I don't know why someone would keep them but I'm sure you can pick them up at the dealer. The detachable hardware is sold separate so you can add that latter if you don't want to spend the money now. Most parts guys can help you with what you need when and if you go detachable.

I got my tour pac a couple years ago for the RG. If I remember correctly, the nuts and bolts come with the mounting kit. The tour pac is already drilled to mount on the permanent rack or the quick disconnect kit. I don't think there is much difference between the touching hardware between the two versions of mounts, so the hardware should be pretty much the same.

My dealer normally has the nuts and bolts I need if I buy something of e-bay that's missing them.

ok, so

1) the bolts don't come with the tour pak.
2) bolts come with the RACK.
is that correct?

also.....are there any rubber spacers or washers in use when mounting the pak to the rack?

thanks guys.

1 and 2 are what I recall as well. Don't remember any rubber spacers but you can ask your parts manager about that. Somebody here may even be able to scan the tour pak mounting kit instructions for you.

It's a Harley which usually means there is a separate install kit for nearly everything.

1) Correct, the bolts don't come with the tour pak.
2) Correct, the bolts do come with the rack, detachable in my case, so it can be removed easily.
3) No rubber spacers or washers when mounting.

Just go to your friendly HD Parts guy, have him pull up the instructions on the detachable rack, and print out the parts. He'll hook you up with what you need. I just went through this process, so it's fairly fresh in the old cranium. Good Luck

Depending on what dealer you're near the bolts & "spacers" might come with the rack, but probably not. There aren't any rubber parts. If you're lucky & are near a good dealer you can probably get everything you need from their take-off pile. I got the rack/bar from one dealer, & the license bracket & bolts, nuts, & spacers from another. All free since they were take-offs from folks that had changed to detachables.

I bought a detachable king tourpack for the RG and I think even the latches were extra. I know that the lock had to be purchased separately, even though there was a big hole in the box for it.

As has been suggested, I'll chime in with just go to the dealership and have them look up what you need on the fiche. If you're lucky you can write it all down and get much of the hardware for 1/10th of the price at the hardware store.
