Default Best Bagger in the Rain and Cold

The batwing or the Road Glide faring?

Hi All, Harley doesn't rent bikes in Oklahoma and I’m trading my 02 RKC for a bagger with a fairing. I was pretty much set on a SG, but that orange Road Glide is really growing on me. I ride my bike to work 60 miles round trip to work, which puts me in the rain and cold now and then. I’m wondering which fairing will protect me the best or if they do an equal job.

Thanks a head for your opinions.

RG with the fairing lowers. You will be surprised how warm and how little wind gets to you with those installed. My borther and I switched rides in mid 30 degree weather and I got very cold on his 05 Ultra. He also couldn't believe how warm the RG was and when we switched back he had to put his chaps on.

I can also tell you once it gets to 70 degrees out you'll want to take those lowers off because it gets very hot too. I've only had this bike a month now and really enjoy it.

I have a RG and used to have a EG Ultra so I have a pretty good idea. The batwing does a good enough job but and each have their advantages. One thing to consider is the lower fairings or get yourself some soft lowers for the SG or RG.One thing nobody that has ever ridden both can argue is the RG rides better. It has less wind effect than the batwing and privides a feeling of openness.

Pretty subjective actually. Batwing owners prefer theirs, and the fiercely loyal RG owners will prefer theirs. You need to ride them both, and make your own decision. It's not just about protection. You have to look at it too, and like they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the Beer Holder"....

You can rent them both in the Dallas area. Come on down and check them out. Otherwise it is just like Bigskyhd stated

I have already decided on getting the lower fairings on which ever bike I get.

The windshield on the RG sit so far forward, I wondered if it protected in rain as well as the batwing.

By the way, I used the batwing term at a dealership and he never heard that term before. I guess that is a forum term.
