IAM 6'6'' and have an 08 road glide, i have no problem stopping the buffeting,a cleariew x-lrg anl lowers, in fact on hot days you need to lose the air baffle and lowers to get enough ventilation...just cant understand what all the guys shorter tham me are whinning about the buffeting...i no its do-able

The RoadGlide front end looks like an old Goldwing GL1100. Just not for me

I agree with the post 2 above. I am 6 feet even and get very little buffeting at all. I may change the windshield over the winter to one that is 1" taller, because the stocker seems too short by at least an inch, if not more. With 1" taller, I'll still be able to easily look over the top. The fairing is bigger then the batwing and thus it moves more airflow over and around you, but not "at" you. Buffeting seems to be a non-issue for me on my RG.

The bike of my dreams was always the Electraglide from the 60s and 70s. The nearest I could find to that is the Road King Classic - I have no desire to own anything else. I don't want fairings and music when I am riding....

That was my experience as well. I had the dealer set up a SG for me to road test, and I never even fired it up. As soon as I sat on it, I knew I didn't want one. I'm 6'4", and I felt cramped. The Road Glide fit me like a good suit. I like the spaciousness behind the fairing, and it still provides good protection. I also prefer the frame-mounted fairing for riding - even though I prefer the old-school look of the Road King.

The Road Glide is the least traditional looking Harley in the line. RG owners generally bought it for the ride, not the look. I know I can do a 500 mile day through mountains, coastal wind, and back on freeway and not feel it in my shoulders at the end of the day. The guys on the batwing bikes were pretty beaten up by that ride.

Different strokes - that's why HD makes so many models. My local dealer rarely has a RG on his floor, though. Most are sold prior to arrival.

Never will own one as long as the fairing style remains the same...just my own personal preference....

that said, both my indy and most magazines rate the RG as the best touring bike in the HD line-up.

But i'll stick to my Ultra and Fatboy..
