Reading the various posts about Road Glides vs everything else, it looks like people gravitate towards the Road Glide after owning other bikes, and then just keep the Road Glide forever. Anybody traded in their Road Glide and preferred the new bike?
I am not a fan of Road Glides at all, I'm just not a fan of the fairing style on it.
I agree, a RK is as much of a bagger as I will ever want. Figure if I want tunes and a windshield I will drive that car. Not to say they are a bad bike or anything, just not my style. That's ok though, leaves more for those that do like them.
Well I have owned just about every Bagger made in my 40+ years of riding.. I think the Road King is a Great Putt and I kept it and bought a newer Road Glide. And I can say over-all the Road Glide handles much better then any of the HD Tour Bike that I have owned. Took me awhile to get use to the looks but after a 3-day rental Had to have one. Like the RG with it's forward dash and it's nice to have the tunes also. Like it better on LONG PUTTS riding 2-Up.
Given the choice, I would opt for a UC (or any Batwing) over the RG for a first touring bike. I have a 08 SG, and got to put about 50 miles on one of the test fleets 08 RG's. I did ride a UC on the same day, and back to back I prefer the UC. Then again I am only 45 years old....who knows what the future will bring?
I didn't end up with a RG....I started with one.
No test rides on any of 'em, just walked in to 3 different
dealers and ordered from the one which offered the best deal.
Years ago hated the Shark Nose look.
Moco has been making some subtle changes to the RG over the last few years.
I started to like the look and began to see some great looking customs RGs on the street.
I finally took one for a ride last year and now I own one. All I can say is I love it.

I have a question, What is that BIG *** Plastic thing hooked to your RK forks in your sig picture ? Kinda looks like a Windshield.
