I bought two new shorty antennas from Harley yesterday. I took off the stock whips on my 07 ultra and noticed the threads on the posts are longer than the threads inside the new shorty's. About a quarter of an inch of thread is visible when the antennas are screwed down. Is there supposed to be a spacer or something that hides the threads or do I have a defective threads inside the antenna. Thanks for the help!
My friend just installed the harley short antennas on his 08 ultra classic. He told me he had to remove a spacer in order for it to fit properly. I haven't eyed it yet, but hope to do so tomorrow. I will update my post if there is something different.
I can only give you my experience with the SHORTY antennas.............DON"T waste your time and money! I tried the shorty's on my '08 Ultra and found the radio performance to be somewhat diminished, and the CB performance to be quite poor. They look great, but if you have functionality concerns, stick to the big ugly whips.
I put the shorty's on my "08" ultra about two months ago. I haven't noticed any change in the radio reception. I haven't tried the CB yet, but, I don't use the CB so I don't care. The shorty's look a lot better. I didn't have any problem, they screwed right on.

Hey twocoltbob,
Check to be sure you have the correct "two" antenna's. They are different. One is for the radio and one is for the CB. Make sure you got one of each and make sure you put the correct one on the correct side. I put them on my ride and they work great.
