Two reasons I went with the Tender Brand is:
1. It doesn't charge like most trickle chargers do. I trickle charger with charge the battery and shut off. The battery drains down to a level too low and then starts the charge cycle again. This puts stress on the battery and short life.
The tender never lets the battery get too low.
2. Is the Tender will only charge to a voltage level that does not allow the electrolite to boil. Keeping a safe charge and avoiding short life of the battery.
.Just a note, Cycle Gear is going to have the JR on a special after Thanksgiving sale Nov. 28th for $19.99! That same day they have a pkg deal on rain jacket and pants for $19.99 so basically you get the jacket free.
My Junior has worked just fine for the past 4 years although I don't use it that often, just when I know I won't be riding for a couple of weeks or so.
My new '09 SG has a pigtail visable below the seat for a BT, when did HD start doing that?
My bet is your dealer did that, My Ultra did not come with one! I had them install mine and I use the Deltran Battery Tender plus on this bike and my 2 previous bikes and never had a problem.
