Talking Kingman, AZ bound?

Hey guys, company is asking me to consider a transfer to Kingman after living here in the midwest for 47 years. Have the normal quandry about leaving parents and grown kids behind, will miss those Sunday dinners and my fav riding buddies are my wife (her own scoot) and my son-in-law. (wife will come with.....is that a good thing?)

I've been out there 4 or 5 times over the years visiting/helping our plant in the area. What's it like riding out there? Will I miss the trees and twisties of southern IN, KY and OH? Riding the Mojave always looks like a blast, but after awhile I would like some varied scenery I think. Never made the Grand Canyon area, but I guess it would be within easy reach. One more thing.........will I have to de-tune to meet regs in AZ or CA (assume CA is part of normal riding from there).

Always great thoughts and comments on here so thought this would be a good place to ask!

Thanks,
Rob

Sounds like a good deal to me, I wish my company would relocate me to AZ. AZ has lots of great scenery and places to ride.

Kind of my thought and the weather/riding season is much extended compared to the Hoosier state. Was looking at a local forum to the area and they have rides scheduled every month of the year!?

I did a ride with family around southern AZ last year. Rode 1200 miles in 5 days and checked out Tombstone, Bisbee, Tucson and a bunch of cool little towns. Also did a ride up to Sedona which was awesomne. You'll have some awesome riding there. There's a bunch of guys from AZ on the forum, and a few from Kingman, that can give you all the local lowdown.

Good luck.

You'll love AZ. Riding is pretty much all year (a little hot in the summer, but then you have the upper elevations to run). I've lived in MI and FL. AZ beats them both in my opinion.

One of the best things of living/riding AZ are the people I've met on this forum, they are the most friendly, easy to be with bunch of riders I've met in a long time, always planning one ride or another, always open to suggestions and glad to meet new folks.

It's a "no brainer", make the move!

I'd say go for it. You'll enjoy the new scenery, the new friends, and the adventure with your wife will bring you closer together. I've ended up making some coast to coast moves with my job over the years and each one was a growing experience. And although my wife resisted each move initially, she always supported me and later was very grateful for the bonding that occurred. Plenty of new places to see, enjoy, and take in. Savor the experience, and embrace the change. It can really be a good thing. Good Luck

We regurlary go to/through Kingman from Las Vegas. Only about 90 minutes away. If you take it slow. As with here, you can ride all year in Kingman
It is hot in the summer, but Flagstaff is a scoot down the road, Sedona. And also points north. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is the better park, IMHO. Then there is California. Big Bear Lake is always a great run.
In the winter we will be using electrics to keep warm.
It will take at least one summer to get climatized.
Let me know if I can help further.

If your moving from Indiana, you will have a much extended riding season.
I'm in So. Cal. about 4-5 Hours west of you and I ride 12 months a year.
As for scenery, you have the hills around Flagstaff, the desert around Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Vegas is only 2-3 hours away and finally you are near the gateway to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Escalante, and many more natural wonders in Utah.
And there are plenty of Twisties to keep you happy....

If your only concern about the move is riding, you'll not be sorry....

And Welcome to the Wild Wild West......
