thanks guys. very helpful as always. new one should be delivered wednesday. i'm gonna have stealer do the lower inner cap cuz small parts fall into a unchartered black hole in my garage. prolly change it friday and / or saturday. if i have question i'll get on and ask. thanks again.. ill try to post pics when im done.
Good luck with the project. Looking forward to your pics. For me, it is hands down the best bang for the buck cosmetic mod I've made on my bike; particularly since I get to see it while I'm riding.
This is what I did on my 07 SG. The complete fairing assembly can come off the front end with removing the fasteners (4) that hold the turn signal bracket.
Remove:
Clutch cable from bar
Throttle & idle cable from bar
Outer fairing
Ignition switch **** & fairing cap
Two side light brackets
Wiring:
Both switch housing connectors
Main interconnect harness
Radio antenna
grounding wire at top tree
ignition switch harness at switch ( need a long tool to unlatch the connector or remove the switch from the top tree if you have the removable fasteners that can be reused)
Removal:
Have an assistant on one side and gentle spread the main fairing brackets that sit on the trees. (This is where you removed the 4 fasteners, 2 from each side)
Take a picture of the fairing from the back side for reference and then start the transfer of components to your new one. You'll be suprised at how easy it comes off as an assembly rather than removing each component while still on the bike.
