Inner fairing removal
How big of an undertaking is it replacing the inner fairing with a painted one? I like the looks of the paint matched inner fairing, but am concerned this may not be something I wanna do myself.

I just took mine off last week and it was really no problem. The plugs to the guages are not inter changable theres just alot of them. I found that it was easier to take the outer fairing off first. That way you can see what you are doing. All of the guages are attached to the inner fairing so it comes off in one piece. You can do it... Just take your time - Make sure ya got lots of room and paper tape & tag\lable the harness as you remove the gauges

It was easy for me too. I just found it hard to match to my red, so I went gloss black. Painted the light surrounds on the beer box at the same time and it really came out nice.

It was easy, just tedious. Use the Service Manual--it hasexcellent step by step instructions. Required no special tools except for the 27 Torx to remove the outer fairing--and if you own an EG, that's not really a special tool.
