I'm 6'2" and had the same problem with the 4" standard windshield on the SG, it's okay for around town, but at high speeds or in the cold, I wanted more. I went to an 8" shield at first, which was an improvement but still too low. Then I purchased a 10" which did the trick as far as the wind goes and my vision was still good. The brand I went with was FastAire.

Note that by reading this thread I saw the shield I wanted before I purchase the 10 incher, which is the style that HAWG08 has on a post abvoe. I saw this shield once on a bike and thought that this was the style I wanted, both for looks and fuction. I can't believe I am going to end up purchaing 3 windshields before I get what I'm looking for. Can anyone say EBAY?

The Klock Werks Flare W/S works very well.(and looks pretty cool too!)
Gives you the wind protection of a much taller shield beacause of the shape.
Also "supposed" to profide additional downforce at hi-way speeds to aid in handling.

+1 on the above shield...I'm 5'8" and have the 7" light smoked. I can hear the stereo at 75+ mph now....The wings make a big difference.....

I put a Klock Werks on my 09 SG recently, and a couple notes I would share:

Wouldn't say I get more wind or less wind, just different wind. Certainly more smooth and not as turbulent as the stocker.

It absolutely seems to stabilize the bike at highway speeds. Prev poster commented about downforce...I would say it certainly does create some downforce. Excellent increase in handling and stability at highway speeds, IMO.

I put on a 8.5" Clearview with the recurve. I too am 5'11". The wind now is 2or 3" above the top of the shield. I think what also helps is the wind deflectors below the fairing, same as the Ultra.
