I found that using a light colored rain suit is the best , especially if your riding in and out of rain were you get periods of sun. Black rain gear can cook yah quick during the summer months!!!
Bought a 2 piece "Eddie Bauer" rain suit on Amazon for something like 26 bucks shipped (it was a clearance).
Rode with it in the saddlebags for 3 years, never felt like pulling it out (and got soaked 20 or 30 times).
Finally, this summer, came up on a pretty big storm, and pulled over and used it... WOW! Worked great, cleaned up easy afterwards, and worth every penny (and more). Got straps and drawstrings in all the right places...
I can look for the model number / amazon link if you want me to...
I also bought a Nelson Rigg suit. It was in the clearance bin for $31 from $129. I've had it for six years now and used it many times and I'm pleased with it. Wore it in a downpour from Cumberland MD to Dayton Ohio a couple years ago and the only thing wet was my face. (3/4 helmet)
Variation on a theme... do any of you have an opinion or experience with 2 piece vs. 1 piece suits? I've been debating the pros and cons. Still can't decide what I want and it's going to be rainy season very soon.

I had a 1 piece, it was a bitch getting in & out of it, especially if I wanted to leave my jacket on...
I like my 2 pc. alot better, I have on several occasions only wore the pants in a mist or light drizzle to keep my legs dry, my leather jacket can handle brief light showers or mist.
and I have not got wet in my 2pc., even in a very heavy downpour.
If you get the 1 piece make sure the are long in the legs. It will ride up higher than a 2 piece. I went with the frogg toggs because i try not to ride when it even looks like rain. Spent too many years riding in the rain because i had to. They pack small and work pretty damn good on my boat and had several friends tell me they are pleased with them so that was good enough for me. There are certainly better ones out there (I really like that orange and black set at the Harley shop) and i would invest in them if i rode more in the rain. I have 2 sets (me and honey bunny)of the frogg toggs in 1 saddle bag for emergencies. Go get that set at the dealer, you know you want to.
