I read it because I had an '03 FLHRCI and I just bought an '09 FLHTCU. I don't even have the Ultra yet, it's getting dropped off today (in the snow...), but I loved my '03, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much has changed since then. In addition, I have to say that the silver/black anniversary colors were probably the prettiest color scheme Harley ever came out with (not counting the '09 FLTRSE in orange and black!).
Any way, great article, but I was surprised they picked someone for the comparison that obviously doesn't put a lot of miles on their bike. There are people on this forum that put 15k miles on their bikes annually - they could probably give a more objective comparison to the '09s. JMHO.
I have a 2003 Ultra and a 2004 Fat Boy, with no plans to replace either anytime soon. For comparison, I also own a 1998 Porsche Boxster. Lots of great improvements to that car over the last ten years, but again, I'm keeping what I've got. New is always nice, but I'll stick with my old (paid for) rides.

Hey there neighbor (N.Royalton)
I read the article - interesting comparisons.
Only 15,000 miles on the 2003 caught my eye - someone needs to tell the guy to get out and ride.
The brake comments were interesting as I will be going from my Heritage Classic (single front rotor) to the UCse (double rotor and ABS) when the new bike arrives.
