I want to lower my Ultra, but I have some concerns. First of all I weigh 245 lbs. I also have an occasional passenger. Lastly I'd to maintain a good ride......any suggestions on which way to go?

Lower it and you'll end up with a bike that rides harsher, scrapes in corners sooner and bottoms out easier. Given your parameters it sounds like you might be happier with it as is.
I am going to order the Arnott air ride suspension. Should be able to get it for $700. I am getting the one with the 13" shocks so that it will ride at stock height. It will then lower the shocks to 9.5". That is great improvement for getting on and off and backing up. I have a 09 Ultra and need all the help that I can get. System is adjustable on the go and can be adjusted for 2 up at the push of a button. I also ordered a Wheeldock center stand for a lowered bike. I plan to ride at stock height and when I park I will put the center stand down and lower the bike onto it with the air ride system. That way I don't have to muscle this bike up on a center stand. I have heard bad stories about lowerering shocks and don't get the lowering blocks. They both have a harsh ride, bottom out and can ruin your wiring harness under your rear fender. Thats my 2 cents worth.
How does it affect the wiring harness? Will using the Arnott system screw up the wiring harness when riding at the lowered height? This sounds like the right way to go for me because I'll ride it at stock height and lower it only when I need to. This would be more of a practical fix.....not one for looks.
Anyone have any feedback on the Arnott system?
Lowering the bike will give you a harsher ride and will more likely scrape parts when cornering. May want to consider a lower seat if this is a concern.
I put the 13 inch Aldans on my 07 Ultra last weekend. Im going to try and get it out today and see how she goes. I was told it would not scrape the rear tire with all the air out. We will see...
The 13 inch shocks on the Arnott system will not lower enough to hit the wiring harness on a Ultra. You have to make sure that you get the right shock height. Some guys want to buy the short shocks to slam it down as far as possible- not me. I want original height when riding and be able to soften it a bit. Up pressure for 2 up as needed. Lower for parking on side or center stand. I think this is the best way to go. Lowered shocks from other companies and you are stuck with one ride option. Many has said that it is a much stiffer ride - not for me.
You would think a lower seat would give you a harsh ride also. I'd be happy if I could lower it an inch. I would be happier if I could sit alittle more flat foot. I'm 5'10.
