Default RG wellnuts

Is there anyway to get used wellnuts back into the fairing holes. Looking at mine, it's bigger than the hole and it seems that no matter how hard I push, I cant get but one side of the wellnut and rubber in the hole. Help?

YIKES........not sure how to make them little suckers shrink,
may call for a ride to your favorite HD dealer and pay a visit
to the service counter.

I'm going to pick up a half dozen to keep on a shelf....cause
I'll be swapping shields around next riding season, and don't
want to get caught short some day.

I have re-used several of mine: loosely insert a screw into the end of the wellnut, on the same side that it would be mounted with the windshield. Then press the rubber portion down towards the screw. Kinda like putting on one of those unmentionable things before evening recreational activities.... or so I've heard.

I change mine out every other time I remove the shield. To me it is a cheesy set up and the $1.29 for a wellnut is piece of mind that the shield will not come loose and scratch the fairing.

PJ! U DA MAN! That did the trick. My bike's not but 2 months old and now I don't have to make that 25 mile trip to the dealer in my cage. Thank you much.

I heard somebody say here on the forum that the 09s have a new design with captive well nuts that don't fall out? Any truth?

HD sells ones that screw in, should of done that in the first place. No more pulling them out when you tighten down. Replace them all with the screw in ones you will not be disapointed.
