OK I have a crimson red sunglo 2008 FLHTC. This color is not available in 09. Anyway I got a chip and want to touch it up. Well.... The stealership wants to charge 22.00 for a base coat and 22.00 more for a Top Coat? So I called another dealer and he didn't say anything about two charges. He did say that 2 bottles come with the purchase of just 22.00.
So what the heck! 44.00! to touch up one little chip in the front finder even 22.00 for a bottle of touch up paint is expensive don't you think.
I want to know if anyone else has this color and have purchased touch up paint.
The pn#s for the crimson red sunglo top coat and base coat in the touch up bottle are the same. They only change if you are buying a quart. Therefore, you only need to buy the 2pack of one bottle red sunglo base one top. pn#98601CTY
Yes, it's outrageous. I did the same thing. Both bottles for $22. But that's the game. Take a deep breath, buy it, and fa get about it! Fix er up, and ride the tires off. Life's too short to worry about those little irritants. It may annoy you, but you'll feel better once she's all touched up and looking like new. Good Luck.
I bought a bottle of my Pewter Denim touch up paint for $22. Mind you, it obviously does not have a clear coat. It was just one bottle.
Unfortunately, almost impossible to match too unless I re-paint the entire fairing where I got the chip.
But it does look better touched up than with a chip. I'll wait til I get others before I spend money to re-paint entire fairing. Or I'll just slap a fairing bra on it.
My 08 candy red sunglo touch up is 2 bottles, one is base coat and one is top coat. It's like one other said here, bite the bullet and buy it,it will look a whole lot better when done.
When doing the touch up, don't rush the paint drying, it might take a day for a coat, at least that's what i did. If you are fussy, i got the scratch and swirl remover from the dealer and hand buffed it some and i'm pretty happy with it.
Hope this helps a little, Daryl.
