I"m a cheap person, and I'm impatient.....so I waited until there were in-stock blems, and I bought a +1" with grey tint, and a vent...
I got too late for summer time riding, so far I THINK the vent is a waste, but the Clearview is a clear winner....
Just a brief opinion on the vent. I've had a couple of bikes through the years with the vent. I've never been able to feel any significant air coming through the vent on my body or face. I can hold my hand up to it and can feel the airflow but that is diffused enough to be unnoticeable by the time it gets to my body. The vent may help reduce the low pressure area behind the fairing but I don't honestly think it's enough to be noticeable one way or the other in terms of performance or fuel economy. I certainly don't think the vent hurts anything and if you want to spend the extra money for it, that's Ok, but don't expect to "feel" much of anything from it.
I have a tinted 8" recurve for sale if someone wants it. I got it Thursday, put it on and rode about 50 miles today. Don't really like it and am going to go back to my old one. Will let it go for $90 shipped. Bought it as a blemish, but I cannot see a thing wrong with it even looking at the sun through it.
I'm thinking about the xlg clearview for my RG. However, I'm worried that the huge size might adversly effect the handling and/or perfomance of the bike. Also, what about gas milage?
I'm not worried about it being too tall, from a vision standpoint. I think I can still sit up really tall and see over it if I have to, I've done some measurments. But for the most part, I'll be looking through the top inch or so normally. I like that for safety and comfort, and I think the xlg will be better for my wife on the back as well.
What do you all think about that? Am I going too tall?
Zeus, I don't think the taller windshield will affect gas mileage or handling: the contour of the windshield would seem to be more aerodynamically efficient than your helmet. And I can't see where an extra inch or so would influence handling, especially with the frame-mounted fairing of the Road Glide.
But I wonder if that height is going to be irritating since from your post it seems like the top of the windshield will be in your line of sight. I personally would find that bothersome.

maybe its me but i cant tell any difference in handling between my stock shield, or x-lrg clearview. or for that matter my 6" el -cheapo

I ordered a Large (+2") Clearview yesterday from their blem stock. It was already shipped this morning with an additional 15% off because of their inventory clearance sale (on until Dec. 31st.) I don't even have it yet and I am impressed.
I spent hours looking at every online forum I could find on goggle and I have never seen a product that had as many positive comments as the clearview shield. Either hundreds of harley riders are completely wrong or clearview makes an exceptional product.
I am a bit concerned. I have never used a full windshield. On my Electraglides and Roadglide I have always used the short wind deflectors. I always preferred a helmet with a face shield to looking through a windshield. I am older now and for the first time I am actually using the radio and CD.
I ordered the xlg clearview just now. They had a light tint one in the blem stock so hopefully I can get that one, and the wait won't be too long. Even though it snowed here yesterday about a half a foot, everything is white the roads are ice covered, wont be riding for a while.

I think I'll be looking through the windshield more than over it. If I have to look over it I can by sitting up tall. I have a piece of cardboard taped to the windshield at the new height, it seems fine.
