good for you. i went through hd insurance when i bought my first bike and guess what? the policy is written by progressive. just for ****s and giggles, i went through progressive proper and got a quote. it was more than what i was paying them through hd.

What I would like to know is this; how are they when you actually have a claim? Are things handled quickly and professionally? After a claim, do your rates go through the roof or canceled altogether? Do you get to pick who does the repairs or is somebody else shoved down your throat?
i've made 2 claims since i've been insured with them. neither was for an 'accident' though. the first one was when my bike fell over in the back of the pickup truck when i was bringing it home from buying it. they cut me a check, and i was able to find a new fuel tank on ebay for less than the check (minus deductible) so made a profit on that deal.

the second time, someone tried to steal my bike and dropped it. dropped the bike on the right side. bent handlebars, trashed throttle grip (stock), scratched my rear v&h pipe, footpegs scratched, turn signal broke, and a few other misc. things. gave me msrp on the parts (including aftermarket, even though i paid less than that) and cut a check on the spot (about 1300.00). i found some good used parts to replace mine with, had enough left over to do some customizing on the wifes bike. i'm happy with them, and haven't found anyone to beat their price around here anyway.

That's not exactly correct. Harley Davidson Ins Co is NOT part of Progressive Ins, HDIC is a division of Harley Davidson Financial Services. They "farm" out the insurance to several different companies through a network of Inpent Ins Agents depending on what part of the country you live in and Progressive is in that network of underwriters that they use and it will vary from state to state which ones quote you.

I used to be with Progressive and they were always cheaper than Geiko but when my policy came due this last time they had jumped a bit on the rates so I called The HD Insurance phone # and they did get multiple quotes for me (Progressive was one of them) but They ended up writing me with Foremost at a cheaper rate, better coverage and even added towing to the policy. When your time comes for renewal I would recommend giving them a call, what have you got to lose ??? I don't want to spend any more $$$ on insurance than I have to.
