twohats, one thing you didn't tell us...What is your combined weight two-up?
I have a stock '06 RG and it pulls incredibly hard, two-up (combined two-up weight of 280 lbs.), on mountainous grades.
I am agonizing over this exhaust issue as the stock crossover pipe is going to become an issue for me real soon as I live in Az.
I want the look of a true dual system, but don't want to sacrifice any low end torque, which I fear will happen.
Two hats, I will tell you how to bring back some low end grunt, put a set of thunder monsters in your V&H's pipes, I did and I can tell you it made a huge difference in the low end tq, I'm not kidding, just give Big City Thunder a call and talk to John.
JFANTO: I think combined might be @325 or so.By the way where in Az you live.I was stationed at Luke AFB in 79-82 What a great place I truly miss it out the,Payson,Sedona, etc.I have a appopintment at another dlr that wants a shot at the dyno. Will see next Friday.
I have never heard of Thunder monsters, what does it involve?I will give them a call!I love this site everyone is very helpful,I learn something new everyday. Thanks Again!!!!
Just got back from a 1620 mile trip to So Cal with my wife and luggage. Both saddlebags full and a duffle on the back. No torque issues as we climbed through several mountain passes on the way over to Palm Springs from Temecula. I pulled up many long curvy grades at 55 -60 mph in 5th with no problems. I'm running straight stock with the Calif. catalyst, so something must be amiss with your set up.
