Default Biketronics/Hogtunes

Hello All,
I just installed my new Sony CDXF50M radio using Biketronics Retro Radio kit and Hogtunes speakers along with a Tune Trapper antenna and man I'm happy with the results. Mike & Donna with Biketronics and Pez from Hogtunes have been very helpful and answered any questions I had, and the set-up works perfect. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to save $500.00 over the factory Harley radio.

Nice set up. Did you add XM too?

Hi V2 Bagger,
No I haven't added an XM radio yet but I feel it will be the next thing I do once I figure out how to connect it directly to the radio, I think the plug in for the aux is at the rear and not the face of the radio.

Your radio is XM ready, which is also plug and play. Its two small boxes that go inside the fairing and plug into the AUX and DIN plug on the radio, and the radio does the rest. You can get the XM kit from Biketronics or Best Buy. They cost around $100.00, and 10.00 a month for service. Its just a button press away, when its plugged in instead of saying AUX on your radio's display it will say XM and what channel its on. I like it for traveling because you never loose your station, and can get traffic and weather updates.

The coolest feature about that radio is MP3 cd playback. 160 songs , 10-12 hours of music on 1 disc. On long trips I carry 3-4 discs and rarely hear the same song twice.

Capt, You have pics? I am strongly considering going this route with a Sony GT 400, gun metal and silver faceplate should look sweet. Looking on Ebay, looks like I can sell my HD tape player and make all $ back if not more, plus, get a better set up.

It's the way to go! I did mine last summer! The MP3 Cd player is an awesome feature! (Although I haven't bought the Hogtunes yet, I got a pair of Boston Acoustic speakers when I bought the deck).

I actually had mine installed at Audio Express. I went in there to pick up the deck (I've bought decks there for my vehicles, as well as my wife's), so I usually get a good deal. That's how I got the BA speakers, that and the deck was about $250 (deck alone sells for $200 through Crutchfield or the biketronics site). I decided to have them do the install, the installer I was talking to had done several custom Glides (and had the pics to prove it), so I went ahead and let them deal with the headache. Had it almost a year, and the only problem I have is my fault, I installed Thunderheaders a few weeks ago and the pipe is touching my floorboard, causing occasional skips (just need throw my bike up on the lift and tweak it around a bit). I got an internal from them as well, works great!

V2 Bagger, thanks, I didn't know that, I guess I should read the literature that came with the Sony radio. seanlee 13, I don't have any pictures (haven't figured out/taken the time on how to post pictures yet), but I can take a picture tomorrow and send it as an attachment with an e-mail if you would like. Drop me an e-mail at truck5c@aeneas.net if you want some pictures of the radio.
