As I posted in a earlier thread I'm in the process of deciding if I should push up the delivery date of my SG which in turn would make me have to pick an in stock bike. They have a CA emission in vivid black, and a 49 state in pewter denim. I know the exhaust is different but what's the other differences and how will they effect "hop ups" like 103" kit, true duals, and intake? I live in NC so I don't need a ca emissions bike. If they had a vivid black in 49 state the decision would be a no brainer.
The hardware parts of the engines are essentially the same.
It's the pipes that had a catalytic in them and the ignition module that changes the Smog stuff.
Also, you cannot purchase a 110cc or 103cc kit legally in California.
Every dealer I spoke to said Harley will not ship to California?
Then why do they sell 110cc CVO bikes?
But, a 3 hour ride to Vegas and I'm good.

I thought California has a law you can't register a new vehicle that is purchased out of state. From reading other forums, there may even be a problem with low mileage used bikes brought into California.
I don't live in Ca nor do I plan on moving or going there anytime soon. My issue or question is, since I don't live in Ca, but I buy a CA emission bike, does it limit what I can do to the bike (performance) and still keep some type of warranty but also still get good performance. As in 103" kit, true duals etc.?

Actually you are incorrect about the 103 and 110. HD makes a 103 that is CA legal, I just had it installed by my dealer, and the P&A book shows the 49 state and ca kits. On Ca bikes, they have a charcoal cannister to catch hydrocarbons, (raw vaporized fuel) which is controlled my a solinoid, vaccum and the ecm. The ignition is timing is a little different also.
