I think I read the seat is now set up for some air flow under it because if heat. Anyone know why heat seems to be a bigger issue on the touring models?

Thanks, the fairing and lowers make sense, less wind less air cool, never thought it through.

Probably because there's less airflow from the bags and fairings?
I know my 07 bakes my gnads all summer, and I run syn, true duals, etc.!

I have an 02 RKC to compare. When I test rode the 09 SG, I didn't notice any heat. I rode an 09 Ultra after the SG and did notice some heat as compared to my RKC. I ride every day to work in the 95 degree summer Oklahoma heat, I am a little concerned, but not enough to not trade in my RKC for a SG.

Ive read adding an oil cooler will lower engine temp.So maybe if heats an issue that may be an avenue to pursue.Only times Ive had noticeable heat issues is when stuck in event traffic after riding all day.

My Ultra does not run hot and is doing well, but during a long ride the heat coming off the motor up through that hole in the seat will make you swet big time.

i thought they solved some of the heat issue by running the crossover pipe

under the frame instead of under the seat-ride safe

Remember riding in alot of stop and go traffic last summer on a 90's day and oil temp read 230 when I got home. The highest reading I've reached and I check it almost every time I get off the bike just for S & G. Acceptable................
Question. If 230 degrees is acceptable, what temp. does conventional HD oil start breaking down and cooking?
