Default Installing Switch Housings

I'm sure this has been asked before, but... Wife gave me a lot of presents for Christmas, one of them is the switch housings, pn#70228-96c. If any of you have installed these, are there any surprises to look for, things to watch for, tips, or just have dealer do it. Thanks.
Oh yea, putting them on an '08 Ultra.

Go slow and pay attention to the way the wiring looks when you take it apart, When reinstalling the new housings, be careful to not pinch any wires between the housing and the handlebars. It really is not a difficult job. I've done it on the Ultra, the Dyna and the Sportster. Just take your time and be patient. If yo do pinch any wires, you will blow a fuse or two. Don't ask how I know.

The wires inside the housings are held in place by metal brackets secured to the housing halves with small phillips head screws--a magnetic tipped phillips screwdriver is an asset when removing and reinstalling them. It's not a difficult DIY project; have plenty of light to see what you're doing, don't rush, and avoid pinching the wires as they exit the switch housings--the Ultra has the most wires in the housings, so it's always a tight fit.

I needed 3 things when I did mine. Patience, a Torx set, and a 6 pack. Take your time. It's an easy project that makes a big difference. Might be a great time to get the chrome buttons as well otherwise you will do the project twice. They are pretty cheap in HD terms. Enjoy

Thanks for all the replies. I already have the chrome buttons/switches, had the dealer install them when I bought the bike because it was free (installation). Do they just pop off or do they have a set screw? Sorry for the stupid questions, just haven't looked at them that close.
Thanks

Buttons just pop off. If they are already installed you won't need to mess with them. Just unscrew the Torx screw and go for it. Good luck

also watch out that you don't lose the small brass ferrels on the throttle cables, also the flat spring on the brake switch. as others have said, take your time, be patient and careful. I'd also recommend you pick up a HD repair manual, it is a great reference in case you get lost.
