engine wont crank...need some help
I'm no mechanic or electrican but can read the shop manual and have common sense. Just installed a pair of heat demon grip warmers on a 05 ultra classic and tapped in the orange and white wire from the headlight as suggested but did not get power when I finally tried it. So I clipped the wires and went straight to the battery just to check for power and to make sure I hadnt pinched the wires when I assembled the left controls and they worked fine. Then when I tried to crank the engine...nothing, no clicking nosie or anything. My battery has been sluggish when cranking but always did turn the engine over enough to start. Everything electrical on the bike works except the right turn signal now, the front turn signal lights burn with the switch on but not the back but when I turn on the left signal the left rear light flashes. Can anyone give me some ideas on what might have happen or what to check. Tomorrow I'm gonna take the right handlebar controls apart again and see if there might be a wire pinched or loose to the starter switch. Thanks for any advice or info in advance.
double check were you clipped and reconnected the wires, make sure the correct wires are connected to each other, before you take apart the rightside controls put a small wedge between the brake lever and housing first. make sure you have wires in slot and not pinched. you should also put a charger on battery
Check for a ground. It sounds like a wire is going to ground. If you have a volt meter, check the battery volts, if that is OK, turn the ignition to the on position and check voltage at the switch before you reassemble the grips. Also, check to make sure you have not blown fuse.

At this point the hot and ground wires for the demons arent connected anywhere yet just connected to the battery momentarily to make sure that they work. I do know about the cardboard shim for the front brake lever. Until today the battery has been out of the bike on a batt. tender for a couple days but doesnt seem to take a full charge. I have new a battery ordered before I read on here that the HD battery seems to be the best bang for the buck and thanks for your input.

In order to remove the handle bars for the install, the ignition had to be pulled. In the troubleshooting section of the service manual under engine #4 reads:"TSM/TSSM BAS tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to off and then back to iginition." Can anyone give me any insight on what this means and corrective procedure.
Did you ever figure this out. I am in same boat with apparently no paddle. I changed switch housings and caps, levers, lever brackets, etc. Now I get power but no turn signals, and no attempt to start. No fuel pump sound, no check engine light, the security key does come on and stay on after a few seconds. All other switches seem to work (brake light, stereo, horn, high/low). Any help would be appreciated.

Check the fuses first, then check the wiring (pinched wire, etc.)
Dawg, You are the man!!! Thanks for pointing out the obvious!!! Found a pinched wire in the starter button. Fixed it and still no luck until I realized I probably blew a fuse. Low and behold a new 15 amp fuse and she runs again!!!! And to think I was ready to take it to Harley and let them sell me a new TSM. Thanks again!!!

glad to hear you found the problem. i'm not on the computer very often anymore and just saw this today. btw, my problem was one of the flat elec. connectors wasnt completely seated together under the fairing.
You might want to double check the kill switch and make sure its working properly. If the contacts are dirty or a pinched wire it can cause some of these problems.
