Mine did the same and I took a 1 1/2" piece of 1" angle iron, removed the broke turn from the fairing, put the angle in place and drilled a hole through the remaining bracket and installed a 1/4 20 threaded bolt with a self locking nut, drilled the hole where it bolts to the fairing and used the stock bolt back and was done, very cheap and very simple.

Both of mine split too. I took a simple "L" bracket I got at the local hardware store and used self taping screws to put it back together. Maybe a $5 and 15 mintue repair. (not counting takeing the outer fairing off.
